Double-Word Art Project
Sometimes I want to work on my art journal but I'm not sure what to do or what to focus on. So I keep a creative ideas list handy that helps me decide. You can come up with your own lists, it all depends on what you like, and your own creative preferences. Below is one of my favorite art project ideas.
Double Word list: A double-word list makes you focus on a unique combination of two words that usually don't go together but can conjure up some beautiful, funny, or thought provoking imagery and artwork.
Pick two words that don't normally go together and that you respond to on an emotional or creative level. Write them down, stamp them, or use magazine-cut-out words and paste them to the top of the page. Or decide not to add them to the artwork at all.
heart, cat, smiling, sun, forgive, believe, traveling, invitation, before, now, treasure, golden, sepia, shimmer, rose, waltzing, topaz, crow, translucent, sleeping, starry, seaweed, wine, woman, cloudy, rubby, forest, man, whisper, taffeta, singing, ribbon, feline, letter, purple, dreaming, imagination, explore, tree, child, spiral, search, wonder, crown, jewels, lavendar, spirit, shoes, ice, baby, indigo, candle, antique, vanish, memory, moist, sapphire, crisp, arch, horse, furry, silver, dancing, sapphire, sunset, moon, vintage, slendar, music, opal, weeping, lake, whiskers, collage, painting, stories, china, crystal.
after selecting the two words and putting them on the page, begin drawing, painting, or collage images, colors, textures, and/or shapes that the words bring to mind. Continue until you feel the page is complete.
For this project I chose the words dreaming and crow for "Dreaming Crow", and above is the artwork that was born out of that word combo. Its creative and fun, you never know what you're going to end up with.
