Creative Writing Prompts For Fun And Healing
Creative writing prompts are a good way to deal with depression, sadness, frustration and other emotions that are keeping from enjoying your life. Writing prompts are also a wonderful way to just start up a new writing project or play around with words, even if you're aren't feeling down.
If you're prone to depression or simply periodic episodes of extreme sadness, you may find solace in a composition book. Though not a substitute for therapy, writing can help explore the causes and depth of your emotional and physical burden.
Use any of these creative writing prompts as a first line in a poem or story:
- My first encounter...
- A friend who moved away when I was....
- My body was sore after . . .
- I had to admit I enjoyed...
- The dream woke me ....
- In the morning madness...
- It was a magical gift ...
- It was a soap opera relationship...
- She took life too...
- I brushed the sand from my clothes...
- He trusted me with...
- That day on the road...
- The tornado touched down across the...
- Some days you just can't...
- The robin pulls at the grass...
- Stars swirled in a slow arch...
Of course you can also use these writing prompts to start a creative short story or a personal journaling entry in your diary. Its all up to you. Just make sure you don't take it too seriously, this is about letting go and being creative. Don't worry about the out come so much as the writing process and how it makes you feel.
