Coloring Books for Healing

You might think that coloring books are just for kids. But i've used coloring books for years as a relaxation tool and meditation tool. I've also kept lots of them around the house for when friends and family come to visit. I know, i know, it sounds a bit ridiculous for adults to be coloring in children's coloring books, but its actually very fun and relaxing. And its a great conversation starter about childhood memories. It always brings up all kinds of memories. One of my favorite things to do with coloring books is to pull one out and color in it when my guests and i are just sitting around enjoying each others company and drinking hot chocolate or tea. They usually will want to join in the fun and start coloring their own page. I always have a good selection for them to choose from. I like to keep the classics on stand by: like bugs bunny (my favorite cartoon character of all time), scoobey doo, ect. And I also keep more "adult" coloring books on hand too: such as fractal designs, mandala coloring books, geometric shapes coloring books, ect. Coloring with my friends and family will ALWAYS leed to conversations about our childhood; what we did, what kinds of toys we liked, who our favorite cartoon characters were, ect. Its a great way for you and your friends to share and learn more about each other's childhood days. And after they're finished coloring a page, I have them sign and date it. And then i add it to my "coloring pages scrapbook". And, of course, my friends always want to look through the coloring pages scrapbook to see who else colored pages, what coloring book they chose, what their coloring style is like, and so on. Its a great way to bring up childhood memories with friends and family. So pick out a couple of coloring books that you loved as a child, a few new ones, and some crayons, and keep them ready for company. Or sit down and spend some time coloring yourself. Its very relaxing, and a great time-traveling device. Happy coloring!
