Butterfly Mandala

ok, i'm going to post my newest mandala just to get the ball rolling. I created this one using an old piece of artwork that I found on a public domain website. The artwork is from the turn of the century (that's the 19th century, not the 20th century (or is it the 20th and 21st century?)

anyway, the mandala was created using adobe photoshop. I took the image from the web, opened it in photoshop and turned it into black and white, then got rid of all greyscale stuff until there was just the borders and lines. the I took the shapes I liked the best, and placed them in a circle.

I love creating mandalas using very old pieces of public domain artwork (meaning that the copyright has expired and it can now be used by anyone for anything). I feel like i'm giving that old piece of art a new life. (i hate the thought of artwork, any artwork, being lost forever).

I have had time to print this one out and color it yet. but if you do decide to download it and color it, i'd love to see your finished piece. feel free to upload it here, as well as any of your original mandalas. after all, this is called a "mandala share".
